Quote by Hikaru-SanJust a thought that
came to mind do you think this character limit doesn't count the quote
text?
Any text that is typed in the text box is included in
the character limit. Yes, there were cases on MT in which members quoted others
and then said, "I agree," both in the forums and the gallery and
considered their post to be complete. It's considered spam in this case because
you're just cosigning another member without any reason except to get out a
quick post.
Quote by DeviletI noticed quite a few
duplicate threads, as they are always an issue here. How about the mods pin some
of the most popular and common threads? Such as "what is your favourite
anime". This way, most members should see the thread already exist. I also
heard you don't get credits anymore for getting replies in threads, so why not
just pin those popular topics?
It's nice to see you're around
too. ^_^ I would honestly have to disagree with this idea not because of what
Spystreak stated but because other less popular topics may be drowned out, not
to mention that too many pinned topics may flood the first page of that forum.
Some members don't even make it past the first page, lol. With that said, even
the newest of topics would be drowned out after 10 more threads are created
under the aforementioned conditions. Technically, that's the case right now when
you think about it.
Quote by MordinWow, I see people I have no
seen in a long while. Hey shin! Hey princess! Hey Mel!
Good
to see you too, Mordin! ^_^ You raise some really good points. Overtime,
Minitokyo started to attract younger audiences. I remember a time when the
community had a majority of 17-, 18-, and even 19-year-old members and beyond.
Now for the most part we do see 14- and 15-year-old members, so they contribute
to the particularly immature discussion that is partaken in the forum. It
appears those members have the most fun in the forum, but when topics like these
come up they may feel discouraged to continue posting.
Quote by CelessaAnd really, can anyone
start actually imposing a minimum character limit on regulated forum posts for
once?
First, I'd like to say it's nice to see you too! ^_^
Now for the critical part. . .even though we have so many good ideas in mind, if
some of these features were implemented, members would indeed find ways to abuse
those features. Unfortunately, though some people tend to be morons, they are
rather smart at finding their way around things. Remember the old 64-character
limit on gallery items? Members would spam by posting one whole letter at least
60 times or type at least 60 spaces after saying "nice." They could
indeed abuse the minimum character limit as well.
Like all of you who already posted, I enjoy a good discussion even if my ideas
aren't in tune with other people's ideas. That is the whole point of a forum: to
counteract another's opinion based on what you are able to conclude, thus
entailing the connected responses part that shinsengumi has been aiming at for
the very longest. If we have this exchange of opinions, perhaps members would
begin to think that the discussions would be relatively interesting to them, and
I'm sure everyone, if they put their minds to it, has something to say. Also,
asking questions about particular opinions and perhaps even facts in the same
thread aids in the discussion, and it seems most of us want to establish these
goals.
The problem is that people, as previously said, think the forum is a
free-for-all in terms of the way they are replying, which is, to me, quite
arrant, ignorant, and defiant of their own range of knowledge. The thread
creator, depending on the topic, especially if the topic implies disconnected
responses, is just as guilty as the repliers. If we redefined the true
definition of the forum, overtime it would sink in members' heads and perhaps we
would be able to refine the forum itself. Setting post limits, time limits, and
thread creation limits does not help very much. Words have to be constantly
beaten into members' heads in order to get them to post in the correct fashion.
If the members could take the time to be lazy while posting, they could take the
time to learn how forums really function. Besides, why do or did we all go to
school in the first place?
Quote by shoujoboyHere is the way I
look at it all though. Rarely have I ever been to a forum that is interesting
enough to actually read through the material and give an educated response. The
majority of the forumgoers are, for lack of a better term, morons. So maybe in
reality the forums are their domain while I just tread in them attempting to
make change for what I consider to be the better.
More than
likely, any of these endeavored fabrications will go unnoticed. Though I was
never a moderator, I tried my best to see if and how I could change the forums
for better, and it worked at one point. That's when I was proud to frequent
Minitokyo because I felt that a difference was being made despite the few people
who helped out throughout the community. Not to mention there was a level system
that rather caused most members to become addicted because they would be able to
check on their progress every time. Not every site has a level system, so it was
indeed a very unique implementation. Now it seems hopeless as previously
mentioned.
Up to about a year ago before Minitoyko transitioned into version 3, due to
diligent members and quite a remarkable staff, Minitokyo was a wonderful place.
After the transition into version 3, new features were instated that drove
members away such as the highlighted items list. Not even administration itself
is around very much to observe these changes and even the constantly complaining
members about these new features that never really existed on Minitokyo version
2. There had to be at least 25 threads altogether that questioned why certain
features were instated or terminated, and this was hardly the case in the
past.
On another note, the blatant lack of instantaneous availability of the
guidelines and policy enabled the forum to become even more disorganized. On
most sites they usually enforce the rules before ever attracting the members, as
if they want to weed out those who wouldn't immediately cooperate. Then in some
other way the board could become popular. Perhaps the reason why Minitokyo had
so many participants in the forum was because they thought they could say
anything at first, for it was underprepared. After the guidelines were
established later, members who wanted good discussion throughout the board
remained while there were others who participated in the anime forum.
I visit the site every now and then myself, and I have also noticed the
amendments in the conducts and ignorances of some members, so I must agree that
my observations mesh with yours. Just the other day, as I was browsing the
index, I saw at least 3 closed threads at once that regarded illegal downloads,
duplicates, and now even off-topic posts. It appears that most of the members
who used to participate diligently in the forums seeked refuge elsewhere on the
site which has been why the level of discussion in the forums has been
relatively basic. Though we may occasionally find a good thread for
participation, the majority of threads are rather useless to post in.
I was once a dedicated member to this site too. When I combed the forums about a
year ago, searching for duplicate threads was a breeze as only the ID number of
the thread was required. Now, a whole string which has been appendaged after
that ID number makes searching for duplicates more difficult. I would find it
rather easy to believe that this was a turn-off for those who once searched the
forums for threads that were redundant. In short, I'm saying it is more
difficult in our current day to actually organize things on the board (at least
that's my opinion about the situation).
I see another note from you stating that forumgoers should be able to do as they
please. On another board that I know, members constantly participate knowing
they could get away with anything they say. The only way they would not get away
is if they are reported for committing a certain act against another member,
such as harassment and racial profiling. A free forum would indeed enable the
forums for bustling activity but at the same time there is no guarantee that the
forums would ever diligently, intelligibly, and respectfully be the same as they
were one year ago.
Despite the aforementioned, I think that with a constantly growing community
that endears both home and international people, endeavoring to settle things
here on the board as we have basically described seems to be not impossible but
not probable. As everything stands, the situation is beyond repair as we have
taken numerous constraints into consideration. I believe that we have tried much
too hard making the community better despite that the community has been
relatively underprepared since the start due to the lack of guidelines. Here is
a lesson in all of this: never start a forum without the necessary guidelines
for stability.
By the way, I read your rather elongated post in 6 minutes.
I heard that using a DPI in multiples of 133 helps to generate cleaner, less
pixelated scans. So try scanning at about a DPI of 266 and see what happens.
If a banned member isn't to return or a member could only uphold presence here
under one registration account, I believe that disabling the use of same e-mail
addresses, especially without warning that that would be implemented, and
banning the IP address immediately upon ban would lessen the multiple accounts
that are made from the same person or perhaps even in general. I don't know if
it's possible or not.
I have 512mb of memory as well as a 256mb graphics card. I also have DirectX 9
installed which is enhancing the graphics of my system. Vista should run
efficiently when considering those three prerequisites. All I currently have are
the transformation packs to give my system the feel of Windows Vista. However,
if push comes to shove and my computer can't handle the extra pressure, in the
future, I'll purchase a more up-to-date computer.
This was likely because you had negative figures for the download quota. The
system has it so that once the figures reach 0 and numbers below 0, credits
become spent. The quota was reduced from 30 to 5 in recent days, so this may
have contributed to your initial negative figure by subtraction. You're best
waiting until the quota replenishes to at least 0.
The amount of credits you lose depends on the number of members you have in your
watchlist. You must've confused the download cost for the upload cost; that is
to say that the download costs generally run between 0.1 and 2 credits depending
on the type of submission it is. Uploads do cost credits to prevent the spamming
of the gallery.
Request a change of password from the Minitokyo moderators if the sending of the
e-mail doesn't work. There have been numerous cases like this before, so it is
recommended to search before you create new threads.
The file size of a wallpaper or a scan, especially a wallpaper, tells a lot.
Generally, larger file sizes which are dependent on the DPI of the scan embrace
the highest quality while lower file sizes embrace the lowest quality.
Basically, it's the amount of information stored in the files that gives the
file their quality. When searching for wallpapers, it's wise to watch for the
file size. When searching for scans, you may want to start off finding a scan
that has a height pixel of at least 1600 for high enough quality. If you're not
sure of a particular scan, it's a good idea to wait and think before you
download.
Finally, this issue has been addressed. I feel that issues that are conveyed
between the moderators in the moderator forum should be immediately brought to
light if they impact all members of the community, thus reducing the blatant
questioning that occurs by PM or guestbook.
The president stated that with his enactments, he may be able to get the
technology we use today revolutionized within 20 years, but that will require
lots and lots of research for developments for electric and hybrid cars,
national electric heating, and less imports on oil. He even stated that by the
year 2025, the US will have cut back 75% of foreign oil imports. First off, if
our economy is always changing and that the funding becomes cut in certain
aspects of our society, would it even be possible for these developments to
unfold by 2025 and simultaneously prevent further serious inflation like we have
experienced over the last 5 years?
It seems that the president targeted both the economy and the war on terror the
most as well as the freedoms and democracies of the world. Though the president
thinks in his frame of mind that the economy is strong, some say that the
economy isn't strengthening but worsening. The economy is always changing, so
there is no guarantee that we will have a planned economy in the future.
Moreover, the statement, "America is addicted to oil", is a fairly
strong and precedented statement by many people because more and more people are
using oil for cars and heating. What I'd like to find out is if the US could
actually ally with Iraq as the president says and try to establish freedom,
peace, and liberty to Iraq and Iran.
That has been an ongoing problem that was never really touched upon. This is the
case for all the galleries, not just the ones you pointed out, because when I
comb through, the same thing happens to me. The only way at the moment to get to
the second page while keeping your changes is to use the update button. If the
fixing of these bugs was more prompt and administration was more efficient,
perhaps we wouldn't be having too many issues in our day.
I am an asthmatic. I've had asthma since birth, and thankfully, it has eased up
greatly. Although, in recent months, it flared back up again possibly in the
form of inflammation in my lungs, so when I sneeze, I usually feel the loosening
of phlegm which could generally be a nasty feeling if left untreated. To keep my
asthma under control, I do not laugh a lot, I do not participate in activities
that require lots of movement, I always take the more preventative way out by
taking my meds beforehand or increasing the medicines with indicators of
worsening asthma. Asthma is also a source of my stress, and any stress caused
will trigger off my asthma. It's a double whammy in the sense.
I saw your wallpaper. It does look sloppy because I see lots and lots of areas
of pixelation. If you lowered the quality by saving the wallpaper with less than
maximum quality in Photoshop, of course changes will be noticed, and it will
result in likely pixelation. If you're a careful waller, you'd make all details
prominent in your wallpapers and save with the highest quality possible. I
believe that people fear bigger sized files because they would take a long time
to either upload or download, but a little patience goes a long way.
My current courses are Islamic Cultures, Intro to US Politics, International
Short Stories, and Art History Survey 2.
Islamic Cultures is a humanities course that helps students become familiar with
a foundation of the Islamic ways of life in addition to knowing some of the
vocabulary of Islam.
Intro to US Politics is a very interesting course to me because we analyze the
arguments being made and counter-respond to any questions being asked or any
information being put out. Moreover, we determine falsity of arguments in the
class.
International Short Stories is a pretty good course that requires reading and
writing. A proficiency exam was provided prior to the actual start of the course
to determine how well the students could read and write.
Art History Survey 2 is a course in which the students analyze different
graphics over the Modern Era for art as well as memorize who was the creator of
the art and when it was created.
I know I will enjoy the Intro to US Politics course considering I will be
reading into the New York Times and the Washington Post for information. In
addition, we all await the president's State of the Union speech next Tuesday,
so that will provide further discussion for all people. This course will be
truly useful for me in the future because I would acquire a broader aspect of
what politics is truly about.
The class I enjoy the least is Art History Survey 2. The teacher is not very
funny at all, and she doesn't make the class interesting in any way. It's all
lecture and no turning back, as if she expects us to know everything on the
spot. That is one class in which the students are better off learning on their
own. This is a course that is required for my major which is graphic design, but
it is in no way related to what I intend to do for my major.
Quote by ViBaYoThis problem has appened to
me two times today (but isn't the first time) donwloading some wallpapers. The
question is that I've tried again to download the pic and then the wallpapers
has appeared without problem, so I've wasted at least 4 credits without being a
problem of broken link.
If you don't receive an image after
clicking the download link, report the gallery item for removal. Chances are
that the gallery item did not make it through the move to the new server.
I find it better to have the scans joined, but if the joined scans exceed the
5000x5000 (or 25 million pixels) limit, then they will have to be compressed to
make a somewhat smaller scan that would fit on Minitokyo. I don't encourage
non-joined scans because that's a rather biased division and perhaps indicating
that one part may be better liked than the other when they both are generally
supposed to be linked together. I had to take 2 scans and put them together
which required CGing the crease in the middle and matching up the texture of the
rest of the scan. It takes work, but it pays off.
In my opinion, MT is absolutely not up to par. I have seen much better progress
in MT v2 than I do with MT v3. Even though the highlighted submissions was
established about 20 weeks ago, the selections are now cliche and it's time for
a change. This may come out of the biased behavior of the moderators because I
constantly see the same art there by the same people while others are becoming
less and less noticed. The top favorites is already consumed by the same artists
over and over again, so make no mistake about that. I thought the highlighted
submissions would be something better in which the members could learn how
different art is made, but with the same selections, they will eventually
complain and avoid the work. This is originally supposed to be an anime
community; why do we see penguins and RPG-Maker-like characters in the
highlighted submissions? Though I haven't submitted anything in a while, and I
doubt I will do so, I feel that the same artists will keep getting noticed while
other artists would become less inspired by the cliche work.
Secondly is the forum. The topics are becoming much more cliche in addition to
the repetitive duplications and illegal transactions that include direct
downloading and linking to torrent sites. The discussions even for those in the
city hall forum have not been the best at all, and I am known for writing up
paragraphs and presenting them. Lastly for this category, the lack of news
articles on the front page is putting MT at risk for further destabilization and
possibly corruption for we know that people do not have the same
mentality.
Thirdly, some of our most gifted members should be given a chance to prove
themselves on Minitokyo, but when that time comes, they are either shot down or
flamed at. I know that respect is one thing that everyone needs, but in certain
cases, it takes much more than respect to get things done. It takes the
knowledge and wisdom to execute the ideas in mind so that everyone could have an
enjoyable experience. With little plotting time and so much room for error,
those members who know the most should be given more of a benefit to show the
other members leadership and perhaps even moderation. Remember, not everyone has
the same thought patterns.
Fourthly, due to the constant cycle of submitting to get favorites, spending to
download scans, and perhaps even make wallpapers or vector art out of those
scans, it's no wonder why we oftentimes see a decline in the work of the
members. The gallery isn't as flexible as it used to be when members were free
to download wallpapers or scans after a certain level. Instead of using credits
to download wallpapers and scans, an upload restriction should be given because
I find that the uploading is worse than the downloading. This will give members
and moderators more time to go through the gallery to find submissions that do
not belong and report them. The more uploads that are being made, the more
downloads that are being made which will in due time consume even more
bandwidth.
This is all I have for now, but I will get back to you all when I have more to
speak of.
Use a virus protection program known as avast. It secures your computer from
malicious spyware or malware and acts as a bit of a firewall, preventing
incoming viruses from getting into your system. You may need to use your
backdoor by accessing safe mode and deleting the spyware manually if it
continues to infiltrate your system and avast doesn't work.

Double thread - A choice between love and friendship....
I pointed out the thread that has more responses.
My current courses are Islamic Cultures, Intro to US Politics, International Short Stories, and Art History Survey 2.
Islamic Cultures is a humanities course that helps students become familiar with a foundation of the Islamic ways of life in addition to knowing some of the vocabulary of Islam.
Intro to US Politics is a very interesting course to me because we analyze the arguments being made and counter-respond to any questions being asked or any information being put out. Moreover, we determine falsity of arguments in the class.
International Short Stories is a pretty good course that requires reading and writing. A proficiency exam was provided prior to the actual start of the course to determine how well the students could read and write.
Art History Survey 2 is a course in which the students analyze different graphics over the Modern Era for art as well as memorize who was the creator of the art and when it was created.
I know I will enjoy the Intro to US Politics course considering I will be reading into the New York Times and the Washington Post for information. In addition, we all await the president's State of the Union speech next Tuesday, so that will provide further discussion for all people. This course will be truly useful for me in the future because I would acquire a broader aspect of what politics is truly about.
The class I enjoy the least is Art History Survey 2. The teacher is not very funny at all, and she doesn't make the class interesting in any way. It's all lecture and no turning back, as if she expects us to know everything on the spot. That is one class in which the students are better off learning on their own. This is a course that is required for my major which is graphic design, but it is in no way related to what I intend to do for my major.
If you don't receive an image after clicking the download link, report the gallery item for removal. Chances are that the gallery item did not make it through the move to the new server.
I find it better to have the scans joined, but if the joined scans exceed the 5000x5000 (or 25 million pixels) limit, then they will have to be compressed to make a somewhat smaller scan that would fit on Minitokyo. I don't encourage non-joined scans because that's a rather biased division and perhaps indicating that one part may be better liked than the other when they both are generally supposed to be linked together. I had to take 2 scans and put them together which required CGing the crease in the middle and matching up the texture of the rest of the scan. It takes work, but it pays off.
In my opinion, MT is absolutely not up to par. I have seen much better progress in MT v2 than I do with MT v3. Even though the highlighted submissions was established about 20 weeks ago, the selections are now cliche and it's time for a change. This may come out of the biased behavior of the moderators because I constantly see the same art there by the same people while others are becoming less and less noticed. The top favorites is already consumed by the same artists over and over again, so make no mistake about that. I thought the highlighted submissions would be something better in which the members could learn how different art is made, but with the same selections, they will eventually complain and avoid the work. This is originally supposed to be an anime community; why do we see penguins and RPG-Maker-like characters in the highlighted submissions? Though I haven't submitted anything in a while, and I doubt I will do so, I feel that the same artists will keep getting noticed while other artists would become less inspired by the cliche work.
Secondly is the forum. The topics are becoming much more cliche in addition to the repetitive duplications and illegal transactions that include direct downloading and linking to torrent sites. The discussions even for those in the city hall forum have not been the best at all, and I am known for writing up paragraphs and presenting them. Lastly for this category, the lack of news articles on the front page is putting MT at risk for further destabilization and possibly corruption for we know that people do not have the same mentality.
Thirdly, some of our most gifted members should be given a chance to prove themselves on Minitokyo, but when that time comes, they are either shot down or flamed at. I know that respect is one thing that everyone needs, but in certain cases, it takes much more than respect to get things done. It takes the knowledge and wisdom to execute the ideas in mind so that everyone could have an enjoyable experience. With little plotting time and so much room for error, those members who know the most should be given more of a benefit to show the other members leadership and perhaps even moderation. Remember, not everyone has the same thought patterns.
Fourthly, due to the constant cycle of submitting to get favorites, spending to download scans, and perhaps even make wallpapers or vector art out of those scans, it's no wonder why we oftentimes see a decline in the work of the members. The gallery isn't as flexible as it used to be when members were free to download wallpapers or scans after a certain level. Instead of using credits to download wallpapers and scans, an upload restriction should be given because I find that the uploading is worse than the downloading. This will give members and moderators more time to go through the gallery to find submissions that do not belong and report them. The more uploads that are being made, the more downloads that are being made which will in due time consume even more bandwidth.
This is all I have for now, but I will get back to you all when I have more to speak of.
Use a virus protection program known as avast. It secures your computer from malicious spyware or malware and acts as a bit of a firewall, preventing incoming viruses from getting into your system. You may need to use your backdoor by accessing safe mode and deleting the spyware manually if it continues to infiltrate your system and avast doesn't work.
